Club

The “Vikings Freiburg” ice hockey team was founded in 1981 as part of the university sports program at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg i.Br. The “Vikings” were therefore the oldest university ice hockey team in Germany.
The “Vikings” have been a registered association since 2015 and have been called Vikings Freiburg e.V. ever since.
There is still a cooperation with the University of Freiburg's university sports department. In the more than 40-year history of the Vikings, around 400 students have played ice hockey for the Vikings.

Sport Program

The season runs from September to April and training takes place in the west of Freiburg in the Echte Helden Areana. The Vikings always train on Thursdays from 21:45 - 23:00. Unfortunately, all amateur teams in Freiburg have such off-peak times, as the ice rink is very busy.
Unfortunately, the Vikings cannot offer a skating school, but anyone who has a little experience with skating or inline skating is welcome to join us at any time.
The Vikings Freiburg are not currently affiliated to any league, but regularly play friendly matches against teams from the Freiburg and Basel area.
